If you didn’t already know this, Instagram is officially my jam! I love Instagram because of how easy it is to identify and connect with your target customers. I love Instagram, but I really love it for BUSINESS. There are some tools that will really help you rock Instagram.
Iconosquare, formerly Statigram, is a tool that helps you see all kinds of CRAZY stats about your Instagram account. I like to go here to see things like: the best time of day to post (each day is different for each account).
Side note: I really can’t stand it when a social media expert says “The best time to post is <insert time>.” I think this is VERY misleading. The answer to that question varies for each person and even each day. For instance, my audience is up LATE. I can post at 2am and get AMAZING engagement. It depends on your audience and their habits. Also, I get super low engagement on Fridays and Saturdays because those are my target audience’s busiest work days. For someone else, this might not be the case…Make sense? But I digress…
Iconosquare gives you Instagram stats: most liked media, most commented on media, which filters get the most engagement (haven’t quite figured out the value of that one yet!). How will you know if your marketing is working if you don’t know your numbers? Looking at these stats can give insight into what types of content your audience connects with…Major! Another really cool feature I like is the fact that it keeps up with comments that other people are making on your account. I am a firm believer of what I call “Being Social”. If someone takes the time out to comment on your post, respond! Simple manners go a long way! For a lot of larger accounts, with tons of new likes, comments and follows, it can be hard to keep up with comments. Iconosquare provides a way to mark a comment as read so you can make sure that you address all of the comments.
You know I love scheduling when it comes to social media. I like to have my posts planned in advance and scheduled. Set it on auto pilot so you can focus on other things. Yes, I am about that life! A lot of Instagram *air quotes* “scheduling” tools only REMIND you to post. There is some time savings but I need more. I need you to go ahead and post for me. Insert Schedugram. This online tool actually posts on your behalf. You can add your hashtags, tag people AND even schedule the first comment on your post. This is a must have for me!
Last but not least, I love the Repost App. Instagram does not have a way to share someone else’s posts easily. Many people will screen shot a picture that they like and repost that way. A lot of times, they forget to tag the person that they got the picture from. This is not required. There are no social media police—yet! But I just think it is good manners. At the end of the day, it is all about building relationships. When you use the repost app, not only will it copy the picture for you, but it will also make it easy for you to include the username of the account that you are sharing from and all of their caption—if you want to include that. There are multiple reposting apps but this one does not water mark your pictures like some of the other reposting apps. (P.S. I don’t like including the water mark of another company’s logo on your advertisement. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pay $0.99 for the pro version of the apps that you use for promoting your business)
You might be thinking: ‘Why would I ever want to repost someone else’s picture on my business account?’ What if you give a killer haircut, as usual, and your client posts a selfie mentioning you…You definitely want to get some repost action going here. It’s nice when you tell someone how great your haircuts are, but MORE people will believe it when someone else says it. Testimonials are key. Reposting is an easy way to capture those and share them on your account.
If you have a love affair with Instagram like I do, then you will definitely want to make sure that you use these 3 apps to up your game on the ‘Gram. What is your favorite Instagram-specific tool?
